What’s Up? Sympathy to the family of Velma Miller, age 91, Indianapolis, Indiana, who passed away on May 14, 2017. She and her late husband, Dr. Vernon Miller, (both deaf) were missionaries to the deaf with Baptist International Missions in Jamaica and then in Peru. She will be buried alongside her husband in Florida. The Millers leave a legacy of love for the Deaf, faithfulness to the Lord, and servant hearts.

What’s Up? Sympathy to the family of Bobby Joe Gifford, age 80, Trenton, Georgia, who passed away, after a lengthy illness, on April 27, 2017. He was the brother of Carlene Camp. He is missed.

What’s Up? Sympathy to the family Helen Johnson Jones, age 86, Midlothian, Virginia, who passed away on April 30, 2017. She was devoted to working with the deaf and hard-of-hearing in her church and community. Helen was a disabled person whose faith and strength inspired many people both deaf and hearing. (Years ago Ted and Carlene Camp had the privilege of serving with Helen in a special meeting and saw first hand her devotion to the Lord and the deaf and her determination to serve regardless of the circumstances.)

What’s Up? Harvest Deaf Ministries, Dr. Reggie Rempel, Ringgold, Georgia, announces their 28th annual Deaf Camp, July 23- 28, 2017, for families of all ages and deaf youth, ages 12-19. What’s Up? Deaf Spiritual Leadership Camp will be July 23 – 27 at Camp Gilead in Polk City, Florida. It is for Deaf children, teenagers, young adults, and families. The camp goal is to provide individuals with education in spiritual leadership, becoming a role model of Christ, and reaching the Deaf with the Gospel. What’s Up? Missionary to the Deaf, David Peach, BIO Missions, Jefferson City, Tennessee, was recently a guest of Silent Word Ministries. He came to be a help and blessing to Jon Barr in solving some computer and networking problems. They both admit that they are far from experts in this field, but the two of them together came up with some good solutions. Thank you, David, for your time and effort. It was appreciated.

What’s Up? Congratulations to Justin and Neressa Snare, Ringgold, Georgia, on the birth of their daughter, Amarante (which means flower) Lily, on May 16, 2017. She weighed 3lbs 14oz and was 17 ¼“ long. Grandfather Allen Snare (SWM) and Grandparents Jeff & Lisa Frink, Columbus, Ohio, are rejoicing on this new addition to their families.

What’s Up? Deaf preachers, Ronnie Rice and Allen Snare along with Nathan McConnell (BRR), are excited about the upcoming camps for Deaf young people at the Bill Rice Ranch, Murfreesboro, TN, this summer. What’s Up? Missionaries to the Deaf, Bob and Brenda Himes, Bill Rice Ranch Missions, report great 2017 camps for the deaf. The largest was the northern camp with 202 campers and 47 receiving Christ as Savior. Pictured with Bob and Brenda are some of the 202 campers.

What’s Up? BIO Missionaries to the Deaf, Pete & Marianne Leclerc, began Crossroads Deaf Baptist Church, Indianapolis, IN, on February 14, 2007. This Deaf church was organized from Bible studies started August 8, 2005. The church is growing as deaf are saved and baptized. Recently they baptized two who used wheelchairs at the YMCA, where they used a lift chair down into the water. (Thank you Pete and Marianne for your faithfulness.)

What’s Up? Missionary to the Deaf Gailyn Agar, Fellowship International Mission, Allentown, PA, has returned to Barcelona, Venezuela. She will help two churches, Maranatha and Metropolitan Bible Church, start a ministry to the Deaf. She is glad to return to her field.

What’s Up? The 25th Annual Midwest Deaf Retreat, April 27-29, 2017, at Camp Joy, Whitewater, WI, hosted by Woodcrest Baptist Church, Fridley, MN, was a great success. Helpers included (1) Perry & Diane Ward, Frank & Ursala Rasmussen, and (2) Mark and Jan Coleman. Guest speaker was Deaf Pastor (3) Jim (& Joy) Campbell, Grace Bible Baptist Church, Baltimore, MD.
