O Magnify and Exalt the Lord

“Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together” (Psa. 34:3). Thirty-nine years ago, my husband and I claimed this verse as we made vows to each other to have and to hold from that day forward. It was a dream come true for me. God blessed me with a young man who loved the Lord and desired to serve Him. God then put us into the ministry. This was a joy to our hearts. It is by God’s grace and goodness that we are still serving the Lord. Our marriage has not always been easy, but we committed from the beginning to leave father and mother and to cleave (stick together like glue) to each other (Gen. 2:24; Eph. 5:31). When things get hard, or I do not see things the same way as my husband, that is not the time to quit, give up, or run home to my father and mother! No, we decided to stick together like glue in the beginning, and that’s what we do in the hard times! That is not always easy to do, but it is the right thing to do. Every relationship has struggles as well as smooth times. It takes daily work to grow together as a husband and wife. “Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God” (Eph. 5:21). We both must learn to yield to each other, and to the Lord as we minister together. Only God will and can bless a home. Only God can bless a marriage, as we fear Him first. I cannot imagine my life without my husband – my provider, and protector. It seems like yesterday that we were married, but it also feels like we have always been together. I am very thankful. I want to thank the Lord for my husband. I thank the Lord that He has chosen to use us in the ministry with the Deaf. We are still saying to each other … “Oh magnify the LORD with me and let us exalt his name together.” Take time to exalt the Lord for your family. They are a very precious gift God has given you. “O magnify the LORD with me!”
