What’s Up? Sympathy to the family of Debbie Siddon Mingo, Davenport, Iowa. She passed away, after a long battle with cancer, on December 3, 2016. She served with her husband, Albert, and son, Abe, at Crossroads Independent Baptist Church in Davenport, Iowa. Debbie was a faithful helpmeet to her husband and a role model for deaf women everywhere because of her love for family, faithful service to God, and her ability to lead. She is greatly missed.
What’s Up? Congratulations to Ben (oldest son of SWM’s Reed and Donna Condra) and Marie Condra, on the birth of their daughter, Hosanna Marie. She was born November 29, 2016, weighing 8 lbs. 12 oz. Everyone is doing great. Ben and Marie are serving the Lord at Harvest Deaf Ministries, Ringgold, Georgia.
What’s Up? Sympathy to the family of Mildred ”Skeet” Brown (82), deaf hair dresser in Rock Hill, SC, for over 60 years. She passed away on December 25, 2016. Her church family, Southside Baptist Church, her dear friend and interpreter, Chris Walters, family, and patrons of her hair salon greatly miss her smiling face and kind spirit.

What’s Up? Congratulations to Missionaries to the Deaf, Rocky and Melanie Hall. They have officially finished their deputation and are headed to their field of service in Ghana. They will be leaving January 30. Please pray for them as they begin their ministry on the field. We are excited for the Deaf in Ghana as they begin to experience ministry from these two amazing missionaries.

What’s Up? Missionaries to the Deaf Bob & Judy Van Sant (BIMI), left on January 23 to return to Simferopol, Crimea, to serve in the ministry they established many years ago. They bought one-way tickets and plan to stay as long as they can. With the political unrest, they are unable to make firm plans. They are thankful to return and serve as long as the Lord and the government allow. Pray for their safety and blessings.
What’s Up? Missionary to the Deaf in Brazil, Jean Peterson, has been in the states since June 2016 spending time with family and supporting churches. She has had a full schedule and has been able to minister to many during this time. She returned to Brazil on January 12, 2017, to continue the ministry she and her late husband, John, began. She will be teaching full time, both semesters, morning and night classes at the Seminary and Baptist College, Crato, Ceara, Brazil.
What’s Up? Congrats to Jason and Charity Rishel, missionaries to Burkina Faso, on the birth of Joseph Levi, December 7, 2016. He weighed 8.2 pounds. Charity is the daughter of SWMI missionaries, David and Vicki Bennett. All are doing well!
What’s Up? SWM missionaries, Jim and Terry Bracelin, are pleased to announce the ordination to the ministry of their son-in-law, Lawrence Lartey (Amanda’s husband), January 15, 2017, at Faith Baptist Church in Hamilton, New Jersey.
