What’s Up? The first annual Deaf Ladies Bible Seminar, hosted by Deaf Baptist Church, Smyrna, Georgia, April 25, was exciting. Millie (Rempel) Frega (deaf) and Vicki (Olson) Kelly (deaf) were great speakers. Fellowship, special music, good food, fun and games, and encouragement were enjoyed by many. What’s Up? Gospel Baptist Church, 6235 Clingan Road, Poland, Ohio (near Youngstown), Pastor Ron Royalty, will host SWM’s deaf evangelist, Allen Snare, in a revival for both deaf and hearing, May 31 – June 2. They hope the revival will help to establish a new deaf ministry in their church. Interpreter Kate Hub is teaching sign language to the members of the church.
What’s Up? Missionaries to the Deaf, Jim Sloan and James Campbell, report a successful mission trip to Kenya. They had many opportunities to preach and teach. This trip will help to open doors to the deaf of that country.
What’s Up? Deaf Liberty Baptist Church, Overland Park, Kansas, recently celebrated their 35th anniversary. Their theme for the celebration was, “Remembering the Past, Looking to the Future.” The most exciting moment was the dedication of David B. Hanson Hall, in honor and memory of the founding pastor, David Hanson. His wife, Charlene, and daughter, Rebecca, were a part of the special celebration. “Looking to the Future,” included asking God’s blessings on their new pastor, Mark Truitt, and his wife, Christine. What’s Up? Sympathy to the family of Grace Pellet (deaf), Fruitport, Michigan. She died peacefully on Monday, March 30, after suffering a stroke. Her funeral was on Friday, April 3, at Bethel Baptist in Fruitport. Grace was a faithful Christian and brought a lot of smiles to many.

First Place: Hampshire View Baptist Deaf Church (MD); Second Place: First Baptist Church of Fredericksburg Team B (VA); Third place: First Baptist Church of Laurel (MD); Fourth place: First Baptist Church of Fredericksburg Team A. The 2016 tournament will be in Frederick, Maryland.
What’s Up? Make plans to attend the 35th Anniversary celebration of Deaf Baptist Fellowship of America to be held in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, June 23-26, 2015 (Registration Fee $35).
